Tao Poem - Outside my door

outside my door an old apple tree shades wild deer

behind it a forest stream gurgles in the rain

I take my water from a well

and burn wood for warmth

the deer look at me with dark eyes

they are the simple natural ones

I am not

yet

I stare back at them

through the same nothingness
